This spring semester we will be offering morning sessions to teach students the Basics of Tecumseh’s Physical Fitness Program. The training will consist of strength training exercises, agility drills, and speed development. Emphasizing correct form and using light weights will allow the students to learn the basics of the strength and conditioning program they will use at Tecumseh Jr. high and Tecumseh High School.
Many studies have shown that proper Strength & Conditioning can have positive effects in terms of injury prevention, speed development, and strength to athletes of all ages.
The Introductory program will consist of sessions Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday morning starting Jan. 15, 2007 and continue during the summer. We will take a break after May 3rd to wrap up the end of the school year then start up again in the summer.
All the sessions will be held at Tecumseh High School in the fitness
room. Sessions will begin at 7:20 and go until 7:55. Students will dress out
and have the opportunity to show and eat breakfast afterwards. We are encouraging
exercise and a nutritious breakfast for greater fitness levels. We will also
continue these workouts in the summer but will supply more information as we
get closer to that time.
I hope you take advantage of this opportunity to prepare yourself for the activities you are going to participate in. This is the 1st year we have offered this program. It has been used in other communities and has been very beneficial to many of the participants. To attend the sessions you must return the permission slip on the following page to Coach Stinson or the front office of the school.
